1941-2016: Syva’s 75th anniversary

This year Laboratorios Syva will celebrate its 75 years of experience in research, development and marketing of veterinary products for the treatment and prevention of animal diseases.

The company was founded in 1941 in León as part of the IAPSA group (Industrias y Almacenes Pablos), and was pioneer in research and development of "Sueros Y VAcunas para ganadería" (Serums and Vaccines for livestock), which made the acronym of the company’s name "S.Y.V.A.".

In the forties the company had already more than thirty veterinary immunological products against the most prevalent infectious diseases of that time, like for instance Swine Fever, Swine Erysipelas and Haemorrhagic Septicaemia.

Syva’s career in research, development and manufacturing of veterinary drugs has led the company in a privileged position both in Spain and in its Export Markets.

The company is based in Leon (Spain) with manufacturing plants that occupies more than 12.000 square meters and a workforce of over 200 people. Forty per cent of the company’s staff is made up by university graduates, of whom eleven are doctors.

At present products from Laboratories Syva do prevent and treat effectively diseases that affect livestock production in 75 countries worldwide. The company is represented in the international markets by two subsidiaries: IAPSA Portuguesa and SYVA Mexico, and by a wide distribution network extended throughout Europe, Asia, Middle East, Central and South America.

To celebrate its 75th Anniversary Syva has planned several actions throughout 2016, including the inauguration of a new manufacturing plant exclusive for Penicillin based products that will optimize its production capacity.
